Client and Family Advocacy

A big part of the development of addiction is the environment we all grow up in. We’ve all heard the words “you are a product of your environment”. When I say environment I specifically mean family. Most cases of addiction stem from issues at home, whether they’re childhood memories or recent dramatic life changing events; addiction is a family disease. Therefore without parent involvement the addict may slip back into old behaviors. If the family is well informed on how to go about the aftercare process and can understand addiction better, the patient has a better chance of succeeding.

Naturally, not everyone is aware of the guidelines and important suggestions patients receive in treatment because they have never experienced it. But, by incorporating the family as a whole, we ensure you will learn better ways of communicating and understanding addiction. We provide case managers who can be in constant contact with the person in treatment and act as a liaison between the family, the facility, and the client. Our network approach takes the pressure off busy addiction professionals, assuring them that their patients will be well cared for throughout their course of treatment. Because we recognize the impact addiction has on the entire family, we place special emphasis on family involvement throughout the treatment process.

During a patient’s stay at a detox center or treatment program family members are often involved in therapy to help address these issues before returning home. Like I said addiction is a family disease and both sides of the relationship should be discussed before exposing yourself to the same scenario which can result in relapse. Attending an organized family-only meeting to learn about addiction is also a very beneficial way to make sure your loved ones will succeed. Rebuilding and rediscovering each others love and personalities makes for a highly success rate for recovering addicts and also a better relationship with happier loved ones. Overall the more support in your loved ones life will result in better results for the entire family.
